8A - Solving the Problem
The problem
that I decided to select for a potential service/product opportunity is the
problem of available seating in the UF campus libraries. Often, I find myself
wandering around library hallways for long periods of time attempting to find
seating to get my work done. I have spoken to many students and know that a lot
of them face similar issues when going to libraries on campus.
The product
that I am proposing is an app for iPhones and Android smart phones that
utilizes campus library layouts and allows students to input open seating
around them, input how much longer they will be in their spot, and even a
specific number of seats that are available. Incentives such as point earning
for accurate information that earns rewards for local Gainesville businesses is
an idea that I have considered in order to keep the app operating at its best
level.
Hey Matt,
ReplyDeleteThis is a very interesting topic and one that I believe that many UF students, like myself, struggle with. I find myself spending more time trying to find a seat at the library than actually studying. My opportunity was completely unrelated to yours, but it did involve a change in the accessibility of businesses. So, in a way, they are related. I think that your idea of an app to help track when seats become available is very innovative. Good job!
Hey Matt,
ReplyDeleteI found your solution to the availability of seating in the libraries to be very intriguing. Due to the amount of time it takes to not only walk to the library but to find an open seat, I often find myself more willing to study at home if possible. I think if I had an app like the one you suggested I would be able to get more use of the library. I also liked your creative ideas for operating the app similar to the app Waze. Overall great job.
