18A - Create a Customer Avatar

My customer avatar is the average college student. College students are a very diverse set of individuals so it is very difficult to pin point exactly what my avatar looks like but I will base it off my own experiences.

My customer enjoys hanging out/going out with friends, watching movies, exercising, and playing video games. In between all the responsibilities that he has from school and involvement on campus, he enjoys relaxing as much as possible. He drives an older silver Nissan Xterra that he hopes to get rid of when he leaves college. He is a 21-year-old student that is enjoying his college years fully. The biggest pet peeve of his is the fact that it is so difficult to find seating in a library. They feel happy but also nostalgic that college is coming to an end.

I have a lot in common with the avatar because I am also a college aged male with similar hobbies, wishes, desires, etc. I think that it is very difficult to pinpoint what my avatar would look like in such a diverse group of people.

  1. Great post Matt, my prototypical customer is also a college student and I feel the market for these customers is only growing. College students seem to tackle a lot of responsibilities in quick succession, such as grades, building up resume material, working, paying rent, eating, so much to do at such a young age and I feel that trying to simplify their lives as much as possible could lead to a very successful business.

  2. Hey Matt,
I like your description of your avatar, it seems like you designed it to be similar to yourself. I like that your product will target students like yourself, this will likely strengthen your success as an entrepreneur and a marketer for your app. I liked that you included your avatar’s biggest pet peeve, since your product is based around fixing this pet peeve. Good job!

  3. Dear Matt,
I enjoyed reading your avatar description because it was incredibly similar to mine. I am also targeting college students, even though I have a very different product. I also liked how much you can relate to your avatar. As a student yourself, you are able to create a product based on your own hardships and experiences during college life. Your explanation was sweet and to the point, but had all the necessary information to move forward. Good job!
