30A - Final Reflection
The most formative experiences that I had throughout my time
in ENT3003 would have to be the interviews that we were required to conduct
regarding our venture concept. These assignments were difficult at first as
they took me outside of my comfort zone to interviewing individuals about
something that I was truly unsure about. After the first interviews, it becomes
easier to conduct the next one and then the next one after that. I really
enjoyed these as they allowed me to get a better sense of what needed to be
developed and what college students were needing in their lives. I identified
the need through interviews then developed the concept based on other
interviews with the same targeted customer segment. I realized that gathering
feedback from potential consumers is the best way to move forward with the
development of an idea, product, or service.
By now, I realize that I am strides ahead in terms of my “entrepreneurial
mindset” than I was at the beginning of the semester. I think differently when
I notice things in my life that annoy me and I begin to come up with ways that
they can be fixed. This class absolutely provided a solid foundation to
continue my entrepreneurial hopes in the future.
For future students, my one piece of advice is to give the
class the time it deserves. If you truly have a desire to be an entrepreneur, the
worst thing that you can do is to not put the effort in. There is a lot to
learn and a lot of self-awareness exercises that goes into this class that will
benefit you long term as you take a chance on a new venture. Giving the class
the time it deserves will help foster the mindset while also causing you to
perform at a high academic level in the class.
Hey Matt,
ReplyDeleteI agree that the interviews we had to conduct were some of the most formative experiences. Being able to get this first-hand experience helps us on our journeys to becoming real-world thinkers and innovative entrepreneurs. I agree that giving this class a fair amount of time is crucial and that the self-awareness exercises help students understand the deeper meanings of their business ideas. Good job!
Matt, I would like to start off by saying I love the image you used and it represents my message to upcoming students very accurately. Also agree with the difficulties of conducting interviews, it was a tough part of the course because we had to go out of our way and ask detailed questions about our own business to strangers, we all definitely learned a lot from it but it was difficult to start at first.
ReplyDeleteHello Matt,
ReplyDeleteFrom your formative experiences it sounds like your strength in business is taking the needs of customers and applying them to products/services. Hold on to this skill because it will serve your entrepreneurial mindset well. I definitely agree with your advice to future students as well because this is the kind of class where what you put in affects what you take out. Good luck with your exams!
hello Matt,
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed reading about your experiences in this class. I am happy to hear that I am not the only student who learned so much about applying to customer needs. You gave future students excellent advice to get though this course successfully, having really learned something new. By the way, that photo is absolutely hilarious, I love Barney.
